What are known issues with STis?

I have been hearing about the newer models having ringland issues.
Are transmissions still weak in them?

as far as i know the ringlands are still a weak link but the 6-speed trans are still bulletproof. the wrx 5-speeds are weak

Got it, I confused people complaining about 6th gear. I guess they want a taller 6th for better MPGs - fuck that.

Haha yea! 6th is a little short but they are way better than 04-06 sti's, there gearing was really short

I'm more concerned about what problem areas there are. Need to budget in what preventable measures can be taken.
