What cars should I go drive?
I believe im gonna go drive a CR-Z on friday. I also want to go drive a brz/frs(half cause i like them, half to piss of erik).
Any other new or recent cars in the 20-25k range i should go test drive, then hate myself for not owning?
I find out if i get a raise or not next tues. If it somehow miraculously =300 a month(it wont) I think i am going to buy myself a new car.

Criteria are, less that 30k new(preferably 25ish) or something like 20 used or certified pre owned
30ish mpg or better
Can fit hockey bag with ease
Relatively small/easy to park
Stick
Fun to drive

Re: What cars should I go drive?
Accent. Versa. Aveo. Mini cooper. Smart for two. Rio. Yaris. Fiesta. Fit. Civic. Scion. Fiat 500. Mazda 2. Corloa. Dart. Veloster. Sentra. Mazda 3? Crz. Altima. Imprezza. Jett's. Optima.
Anything other than those and your gas mileage will plummet. For you mpg shouldn't matter much! Do the math per year you're going to want a better car.
Let's say you out on 10k a year at 5 bucks a gallon at 30mpg that's 1666.66 bucks a year or get a better car that on the low side gets 20 mpg. Let's say 10k miles again at 20mpg at premium 5.50 that's 2750 a year. So an extra 1083 a year for a "fun" car in my opinion is worth it. Less than 3 bucks a day more at an extreme!
Just my thought process that and resale value. Never go upside down on a car that you're already trying to budget to get.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
Cruze Eco fits your needs, my boy. Guess what - it IS for sale!
For that price range you can get a REAL clean Evo 9 or STi.
Does it have to be new? I would save my pennies and get Focus ST if I were you. Just get a nice downpayment.

No, and the focus st is one of the few cars id consider buying brand new, just because they dont exist used. prolly rather get one thats a year or 2 old, with like 20k on it, save some $$$

Another thing to remember is maintenance costs. Brembo brakes need them pads. Sure you can put in cheap pads, but you will be wanting the same bite back. And turbo love their synthetic oil.

thats one of the appeals of the gti, is 3 year scheduled maintenence all included

too much power, awesomeness, fun times, practicality, and "poor" mpg for one city boy to handle..
Personally if MPG is your consern and you dont really know about cars anymore a new wrx would suit your needs well.
get a 2011 hatch or sedan that will fit all your needs except your stupid MPG requirements. but even then its way better than the sti or evo.
Still dumb you demand 30mpg+ just silly to me in your situation.
Edit: sorry for being a douche

Re: What cars should I go drive?
Fun and mpg are not equal. There are good gas mileage cars that are more fun the other good gas mile cars like Crz is more fun then Prius.
Something like a Crz is never going to be as much fun as a evo or wrx or Gti or ms3 or focus st. It's just impossible.
Gti is small and is decent gas handles ok out of the box and has a little power. Buuut it's fwd. do you care? I do now.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
i think the only way to ban him is to go to his house, unplug his computer and and break his i phone. also work computer needs to go....and he might buy a new computer so go to bestbuy and start smashing....OR find the server and any backups and take down the whole forum.
so yes, you can ban him and its a simple process.
You ok with FWD? buy a wrx anyway. you wont be upset

Yes, I'd be okay with fwd. awd or rwd preferred, but I've drove fwd for long enough and don't hate it. 2009 is the year they didn't suck anymore for the hatch, right?

08 sti was good. just the 08 WRX was shitty. turned it into an impreza gt the following year. ive found alot of 08 wrxs for sale, all the people that got screwed over are trying to get wrx prices for them still lol

Re: What cars should I go drive?
yes 09 wrx is improved... i HATE! the 09-10 body without the wider fenders.... ugly.
11-12 have wider fenders and is way better.
So angry haha i was just using number you previously stated. The cars i listed dont all get 30 mpg city so i know you werent saying that.
I still vote you also rule out FWD completely. it will make your search easier. Get an IS300 not the greatest MPG but incredabily reliable.
11 wrx gets better mpg and is faster. Can be had for 25 out the door.
any hatch STi will be close to 30K
R32!
g35s!
awd or RWD just wont be good with mpg with the ability to carry a hockey bag easily
I use fuelly to really judge what real world numbers people are getting.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
30ish mpg or better Fiesta
Can fit hockey bag with ease fiesta hatch
Relatively small/easy to park fiesta
Stick fiesta
Fun to drive not a fiesta yet it gets good reviews on being fun to drive
Not to be a dick but i think the fun to drive factor is more important than this list indicates. I could be very wrong tho and if i am i am sorry.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
youre being an asshole just for the sake of being an asshole and trying to make me look stupid.
youre not being helpful and being a bit too literal on every single thing listed in here.
also, you bought an sti, it has less than 300whp, sell it. its no good for you.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
what might help us is knowing waht you dont want in a car... or explaining why you wouldnt want a fiesta might help...
I am trying to be serious on this one.
IE... I dont want a wrx unless its a 2011 because an sti can be had for a decent price and the side effects of an sti being more expensive parts and worse gas mileage doesnt out weigh the downsides of a wrx being... worse trans stuts power looks and wheels.
a 2011 fixes a lot of those things and adds some creature comforts standard.
I also based my cars off radio options.. double din was a must as i can get bluetooth audio ipod stuff and navi for nothing with discover points.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
Fiesta just seems a bit boring to me. Granted i have not driven one, and on paper "fits all my needs" but i imagine its fun to drive in the same way the regular focus is fun to drive. It's a fun to drive car in comparison with its competition(honda fit, mazda2, etc) rather than in comparison with more enthusiast based cars.
the reason i said 30mpg is fairly arbitrary. i get like 20ish now and its kind of ridiculous for how little i drive that i have to fill up so often(this may also be the fault of my shitty gas guage) so. 30 would be nice, on the upper end of 20s would be perfect. This is highway im talking about, mid 20s combined preferable.
Really fun to drive to me is more about the feel and experience of the car rather than power. I dont really give a shit about power(remeber how happy i was in the focus?) I dont need anything faster than the g35 is, its plenty quick for me. I want something that is a nice place to sit, comfortable without being too soft, engaging(feel of the car, sound it makes, feel of the pedals/shifter/steering), and fun to bring around corners.
The smallness means g35 sized or smaller. I live i the city and want it to be easy to be able to fit in small spots.
Hockey bag fitment is a must. Be able to get bag and sticks in it at some place. I dont care if the rear seats need to be always down to do it, or actually if it has any or usable rear seats at all. Ability to carry 2 bags a plus, but absolutely not necessary.
Other strong considerations for good stereo/iphone connectivity, sunroof, and HIDS. Not particularly care about nav, but a bonus if offered.
the FRS/BRZ is looking better and better to me.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
an e36 m3 fits everything you just listed.... unfortunatly it is older bullet proof and you basically need to pay the extra in cash beucase getting a loan on them is based on it being old not that it is awesome.
It, right now, is one of the best cars that suits all you need and its cheap... i think reliable low maintence should be on youtr lsit too as if this car needed work and paying attention to it might not get done easily in the city.
Also winter time if your rocking winter tires in the city it might be fine but a car like the brz being light and rear wheel might be diffuclt but not impossible.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
I saw a brz this past weekend at the track and Definatley caught my attention. It looked nice and aggresive to me. Didn't really get to look inside it or drive it but i would get one if I liked how it drove. Wasn't the fastest down the straights but held its own for the most part through the twisties.

Re: What cars should I go drive?
Over all the gen coupes are shotty. People hate the trans and they are def budget builds. Overall though they give you lots of features and different models and it's nice to have rwd coupes again.
